“More Merit in the Sacred Adhik Maas”: Rayat Galli Upholds Devotional Tradition Through Dnyaneshwari Parayan

Vadgaon: Marking the auspicious occasion of Adhik Maas, which occurs once every three years, the residents of Rayat Galli in Madhavpur-Vadgaon continue their long-standing tradition of organizing a three-day Granthraj Shri Dnyaneshwari Parayan Sohala. The event is held with the belief that Adhik Maas brings greater spiritual rewards and provides an opportunity to blend devotion with daily agricultural life.

The religious gathering begins each day with Kakad Aarti in the early morning, followed by the reading of the sacred Dnyaneshwari. Numerous Warkaris, devotees, and women’s bhajan groups actively participate in the devotional activities. Evening sessions feature spiritual discourses, while renowned kirtankars deliver inspiring kirtans at night. The celebrations conclude each day with Mahaprasad sponsored by devotees and donors.

As Rayat Galli is predominantly a farming community, local farmers traditionally complete most of their agricultural work before the event, leaving only the sowing process pending. They resume sowing activities only after the successful completion of the Parayan Sohala, reflecting the community’s deep-rooted faith and devotion.

Held from Thursday to Sunday, the event witnesses enthusiastic participation from people of all age groups. Residents voluntarily contribute to various arrangements, including cooking, serving devotees, and maintaining cleanliness. Children, youth, women, and Warkari devotees work together to ensure the smooth conduct of the program and provide hospitality to visiting devotees.

Senior citizens and Warkari members oversee the overall organization, while donors are honored for their contributions. Through collective effort and unwavering devotion, the residents of Rayat Galli continue to preserve this cherished spiritual tradition, strengthening both religious values and community unity.
