Belgaum: A meeting of the Maharashtra Ekikaran Yuva Samiti Simabhag was held at the residence of president Shubham Shelke. Speaking on the occasion, working president Dhananjay Patil explained the purpose of the meeting and stated that tributes would be paid on June 1 at the Hindalga Martyrs’ Memorial to those who sacrificed their lives during the movement against the imposition of Kannada.
The meeting also discussed the proposed march to be organized by the Madhyavarti Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti against what it described as the continued imposition of Kannada. Participants expressed their support for the march and called upon border-area residents to actively participate in the movement.
It was further announced that the Central Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti plans to launch a signature campaign targeting one lakh signatures to press for an early resolution of the long-pending border dispute. The youth committee urged constituent organizations to hold meetings and extend their support to the campaign.
The Maharashtra Ekikaran Yuva Samiti appealed to residents of the border region to attend the June 1 tribute program at the Hindalga Martyrs’ Memorial in large numbers and to participate actively in the protest march whenever its date is announced.
Among those present at the meeting were Manohar Hundare, Piraji Munchadikar, Indrajit Dhamanekar, Narayan Munchadikar, Motes Bardeskar, Sudhir Shirole, Sachin Dalvi, Ramesh Malavi, Suraj Jadhav, Shrikant Nandurkar, Nilesh Kakatkar, and Raju Patil, along with several other activists.
