4JR Human Rights Care Organisation Warns of Indefinite Hunger Strike Over 11 Pending Civic Demands

Nipani, June 14: The 4JR Human Rights Care Organisation has announced an indefinite hunger strike from July 15, 2026, in front of the Nipani Tahsildar’s Office if authorities fail to address several long-pending civic issues affecting residents of Nipani city and taluka.

The organisation submitted a written memorandum on June 14 to the Tahsildar, CPI of Nipani, and the Commissioner of Nipani Municipality, highlighting what it described as the administration’s failure to act on repeated representations submitted over the past several months.

According to the memorandum, despite multiple appeals and assurances from officials, no concrete action has been taken on key public issues, resulting in growing inconvenience and hardship for citizens. The organisation has therefore set July 15 as the deadline for authorities to initiate effective measures.

If no substantial progress is made by then, the organisation has decided to launch an indefinite hunger strike and satyagraha outside the Tahsildar’s office. A separate application seeking permission for the protest has also been submitted.

Key Demands Raised by the Organisation

The organisation has put forward 11 major demands, including:

  1. Mandatory biometric attendance and entry-exit registration for employees and officers in all government offices in Nipani.
  2. Making Nipani a drug-free city by eliminating the sale and consumption of marijuana.
  3. Action against illegal activities and establishments causing inconvenience to residents.
  4. Appointment of specialist doctors at Mahatma Gandhi Government Hospital and upgrading it to taluka-level status.
  5. Regulation of excessive fees charged by private schools.
  6. Resolution of issues related to Jawahar Sarovar and its development as a tourist destination.
  7. Review of the necessity of the traffic signal at Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj Circle.
  8. Addressing civic problems in Shinde Nagar, Balaji Nagar, and HUDCO Colony.
  9. Reserving Saraswati public land for a public park and gymnasium.
  10. Providing civic amenities in Survey Nos. 190B and 181A along Devchand College Road.
  11. Resolution of other pending local issues.

Copies of the memorandum have also been sent to the Chief Minister, Home Minister, Director General of Police (Karnataka), and other senior authorities for information and necessary action.

The memorandum bears the signatures of organisation office-bearers including Sachin Powar, Dnyaneshwar Chavan, Avinash Mane, Santosh Mavarkar, Vishal Kamble, Yogesh Kamble, Yuvaraj Shetke, Yogesh Potdar, A.I. Halgale, Mohan Patil, Ashok Khandekar, Santosh Kurle, and Mohammed Shafi Kunnathodi, among others.

The organisation has urged the administration to take immediate steps to resolve the issues, warning that a stronger public agitation will follow if the demands continue to be ignored.
