Veteran Litterateur Yashwant Patne to Preside Over 7th Akhil Bharatiya Belgaum Marathi Literary Conference

Belgaum: Veteran Marathi litterateur Yashwant Patne has been chosen as the President of the 7th Akhil Bharatiya Belgaum Marathi Literary Conference, which will be held on Sunday, May 24, 2026, at Maratha Mandir in Belgaum. The announcement has created excitement among literature lovers and cultural enthusiasts across the border region.

Organisers informed that preparations for the prestigious literary event are in full swing and this year’s conference is expected to become a grand celebration of Marathi literature, Shivcharitra and poetry.

State President and poet Ravindra Maruti Patil announced the programme schedule during a preparatory meeting held recently. The first session of the conference will feature the presidential address by Yashwant Patne, who is known for his contribution to Marathi literature and socially conscious writing.

The second session will feature a special lecture by renowned Shiv orator Yashwant Gosavi from Pune on the topic “Chhatrapati Shivray: The Need of Today’s Era.” He is expected to speak about the relevance of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s ideals in present-day society.

In the third session, popular folk poet Prashant More from Mumbai will present a soulful musical poetry performance titled “Kalajatlya Kavita – Aai Va Baap,” based on emotional and heartfelt poems dedicated to parents.

Vice-President D.B. Patil stated that various committees have been formed and responsibilities distributed to ensure the successful organisation of the literary conference.

Several office bearers and organisers, including Shivsant Sanjay More, M.Y. Ghadi, Ranjit Chougule, M.K. Patil, Mohan Ashtekar, women district presidents Aruna Goje-Patil, Smita Killekar, Savita Vesane and Roshni Hundre, were present at the meeting.

The organisers have appealed to Marathi literature lovers from the border region to participate in large numbers and make the literary festival a grand success.
