Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti Delegation Meets Sharad Pawar Over Border Dispute

Belgaum: A delegation of the Central Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti (MES) met senior leader Sharad Pawar in Kolhapur and urged him to ensure that the Maharashtra–Karnataka border dispute case pending before the Supreme Court receives faster hearings and stronger follow-up from the Maharashtra Government.

The delegation, led by MES President Prakash Margale, held detailed discussions on the long-pending border issue and briefed Pawar on the current status of the Supreme Court proceedings and the concerns of Marathi-speaking people in the border region.

The delegation also informed Pawar about the proposed dharna protest on June 29 outside the Maharashtra Chief Minister’s residence in Mumbai. According to committee members, Pawar assured them that he would speak with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and make efforts to convene meetings of the High-Powered Committee and the Expert Committee to address the issue.

The meeting also focused on concerns over the implementation of Kannada language policies in the border areas, which the delegation said has led to growing resentment among Marathi-speaking residents. The representatives conveyed the sentiments and ground realities of the people living in the region.

During the discussion, it was emphasised that the Maharashtra Government should continue to stand firmly with the border residents and take all necessary steps to present a strong case before the Supreme Court.

The delegation included Prakash Margale, Suhas Huddar, Umesh Patil, and Vinod Ambewadikar.
