Khanapur Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti Youth Meeting Held; Commitment Reaffirmed to Preserve Marathi Language, Culture and Schools

Khanapur: A meeting of young activists of the Khanapur Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti was held at Shiv Smarak on Sunday, where participants resolved to work dedicatedly for the preservation of the Marathi language, culture, and Marathi-medium schools.

The meeting focused on the need for youth to unite and actively contribute to safeguarding the linguistic and cultural identity of the Marathi-speaking community in the border region.

Shankar Gawda, a teacher at Raosaheb Wagale College, and Pratik Patil, Secretary of the Maharashtra Ekikaran Yuva Samiti, Belagavi, guided the participants. Gawda explained the history of the border dispute and the Maharashtra Ekikaran movement, emphasizing the responsibility of young people in protecting Marathi language, schools, and cultural traditions.

Addressing the gathering, Pratik Patil said that the border issue has been fought for over seven decades and that preserving Marathi schools remains equally important. He noted that Marathi schools are the backbone of the language and urged youth to take an active role in strengthening them. He also encouraged volunteers to begin distributing educational materials to students in Marathi-medium schools across Khanapur taluk.

Yuva Samiti office-bearer Sainath Shirodkar spoke about the effective use of social media in the movement, the importance of competitive examinations, and healthcare benefits available through Maharashtra government schemes.

The participants pledged to remain committed to the ideals and objectives of the Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti and to continue working for the preservation and promotion of Marathi language, culture, and education in the border region.

Several young activists from across Khanapur taluk attended the meeting.
