Emerging Poet Dr. Dattatraya D. Desai to Receive “Kabir Kohinoor National Award”

Belagavi district’s Belanki village resident and emerging poet Dr. Dattatraya D. Desai has been selected for the prestigious “Kabir Kohinoor National Award.” The award will be presented on June 29 at a special ceremony organized by the Akhil Bharatiya Kabir Math at Badi Khatu in Rajasthan’s Nagaur district. The honor will be conferred by the institution’s chief saint, Sant Shri Nanakdasji Maharaj.

Currently, Dr. Desai is serving as a Hindi lecturer at the Dakshin Bharat Hindi Prachar Sabha Training College. His passion for Hindi literature, dedication to writing, and continuous literary pursuits have earned him recognition as a promising young poet.

His two self-written poetry collections, “Dastak… Ansuni Aahat” and “Dehleez… Ek Seema,” have been published and feature poems on patriotism, social awareness, politics, satire, love, and various contemporary themes. Several of his poems have also been published in the daily newspaper “Swatantra Varta.”

The national award has been announced in recognition of his impactful writing style and remarkable contribution to Hindi literature. Notably, earlier this year, he was also selected for the “Swadesh Bharat Gaurav Samman 2026” by the Rabindranath Tagore Swadesh India Glories organization.

Dr. Desai completed his primary education in the small village of Belanki in Belagavi district and pursued higher education at Shivaji University. He is currently working actively for the promotion and propagation of Hindi language and literature. His achievement has been widely appreciated by the literary community.
