CCB Seizes Heroin Worth ₹9.5 Lakh in Belgaum; Three Arrested

Belgaum, June 8: In a major anti-drug operation, the City Crime Branch (CCB) police arrested three alleged drug peddlers and seized 47.29 grams of heroin worth approximately ₹9.5 lakh during a raid conducted in Tangadi Galli area of Belgaum.

The arrested accused have been identified as Nikhil Narayan Ballari (24), Kapil Gajanan Hosurkar (18), and Akash Anand Salunke (34), all residents of Belgaum.

Acting on credible information, the CCB team led by PI Manjunath Nayak and PSI Manjunath Bhajantri raided the spot and allegedly caught the trio while attempting to sell heroin.

Police recovered 466 small packets containing 47.29 grams of heroin valued at ₹9.5 lakh, a scooter worth around ₹70,000, three mobile phones worth ₹10,800, and ₹300 in cash, taking the total value of the seized property to ₹10.31 lakh.

During preliminary interrogation, the accused allegedly disclosed that the heroin had been procured from a woman based in Mumbai. Based on the investigation, Khadebazar Police Station has registered a case under Section 21(b) of the NDPS Act, and further investigation is underway.
