Belgaum: The 143rd birth anniversary of freedom fighter Vinayak Damodar Savarkar (Veer Savarkar) was celebrated with great enthusiasm on May 28, 2026, at 6:00 PM at Arsha Vidyashram, Shantinagar, Tilakwadi.
Prominent corporator Anandrao Chavan and senior Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leader Kishor Kakade were present as chief guests. The event was organized by Savarkar enthusiast Sanjay Raikar.
On this occasion, a well-curated exhibition depicting the life, struggles, and contributions of Veer Savarkar was inaugurated. The exhibition has been kept open for the public on May 29, allowing citizens to learn more about the revolutionary leader’s inspiring life and legacy.
Addressing the gathering, Anandrao Chavan shared several inspiring incidents from Savarkar’s life and highlighted his immense contribution to the nation. Kishor Kakade delivered the vote of thanks.
During the program, organizer Sanjay Raikar was felicitated for his efforts in arranging the event. A large number of residents from Shantinagar and nearby areas attended the function and paid tribute to Veer Savarkar.
The event was made successful with the support of Vasant Hebbalkar, Yashwant Pardeshi, and Suresh Sulebhavi, along with other volunteers and well-wishers. The exhibition and commemorative program received an encouraging response from the local community.
