Belgaum: The City Crime Branch (CCB) has arrested a youth allegedly involved in the transportation and sale of ganja and seized contraband and other property worth ₹1.85 lakh during a special operation.
According to police, on June 12, 2026, the accused, Mrutyunjaya Bhimaseppa Jadagi (19), a resident of Yallapur in Hukkeri taluk, was found transporting ganja allegedly procured from another individual for illegal sale. Acting on credible information, a CCB team led by Police Inspector Manjunath Nayak, along with PSI Manjunath Bhajantri and staff, conducted a raid near Karikatti Cross on the Gokak–Belgaum road.
During the operation, police seized:
- 3 kg of ganja valued at approximately ₹1.50 lakh
- A Bajaj Platina motorcycle worth ₹30,000
- A Vivo mobile phone
- Cash and other articles
The total value of the seized property is estimated at ₹1.85 lakh.
A case has been registered at Marihal Police Station under Crime No. 83/2026 and relevant provisions of the NDPS Act. Further investigation is underway to identify and apprehend other persons involved in the illegal trade.
Senior police officials, including the Commissioner of Police, Belgaum City, and other officers have appreciated the efforts of the CCB team for the successful operation.
