Belgaum: The seventh batch of Agniveers trained under the ‘Agnipath Scheme’ successfully completed their training, marking the occasion with a ceremonial Attestation Parade held with full military traditions at The MARATHA Light Infantry Regimental Centre, Belgaum on May 30, 2026. A total of 765 Agniveers were formally attested after completing 24 weeks of rigorous military training.
The parade was reviewed by Brigadier Girish Upadhya, Commandant of The MARATHA Light Infantry Regimental Centre, who praised the Agniveers for their immaculate turnout and high standards of drill. The parade was commanded by Agniveer Sanket Singh, while Major Gajanan Patil served as the Parade Adjutant.
During the impressive ceremony, the Agniveers took the ‘Oath of Affirmation’ in the presence of the National Flag, the Regimental Flag, and religious holy books. The event was witnessed by proud parents of the Agniveers, serving and retired members of the Regiment, dignitaries from Belgaum, NCC cadets, and students from various schools.
Addressing the newly attested Agniveers, Brigadier Upadhya highlighted the rich heritage and glorious history of The MARATHA Light Infantry, one of the oldest Infantry Regiments of the Indian Army. He emphasized the importance of discipline and physical fitness in a soldier’s life and expressed confidence that the training imparted at the Regimental Centre would help the young soldiers excel in their future assignments.
The Reviewing Officer also presented medals to Agniveers who excelled in different aspects of training. The prestigious “Naik Yashwant Ghadge, Victoria Cross Medal” for the Overall Best Agniveer was awarded to Agniveer Gholap Adarsh.
The ceremony concluded with a solemn wreath-laying ceremony at the Sharqat War Memorial, where the Reviewing Officer and Agniveers paid tribute to the brave soldiers of the Regiment. Proud parents were also felicitated with “Gaurav Padak” for motivating their children to serve the nation.
