Belgaum, July 2: A 78-year-old inmate of Shantai Vrudhashram, Mr. Deepak, has made a remarkable recovery after receiving timely treatment at KLE Dr. Prabhakar Kore Hospital, preventing the amputation of his leg.
Mr. Deepak had developed a severe wound on his leg that was at risk of turning into gangrene. Concerned about his condition, former Mayor Vijay More immediately contacted renowned surgeon Dr. Abhijit Gogate, who arranged for his admission to the hospital’s free ward.
Doctors at KLE Hospital treated him for nearly a month with dedicated care, successfully saving his leg without the need for amputation. Following significant improvement in his health, he was discharged from the hospital on Thursday.
To express gratitude for the hospital’s compassionate and selfless service, former Mayor Vijay More, along with his son Allan More, Santosh Mamdapur, Gangadhar Patil, and other well-wishers, felicitated the doctors and hospital administrators.
Those honoured included Principal Dr. Rajesh Powar, Medical Superintendent Dr. Arif Maldar, Dr. R. S. Mudhol, Dr. Vinsurkar, and Dr. Manoj Togle. Special appreciation was also extended to Public Relations Officers Raju Hadimani and Gangangoud Patil for personally looking after the patient during his stay.
The group also thanked Dr. Abhijit Gogate, Dr. Vinod Karagi, Dr. Prashant Hombal, and the postgraduate doctors, including Dr. Sagarika, Dr. Jaipawan, and Dr. Shantanu, for their dedicated treatment and continuous support.

Speaking on the occasion, Vijay More praised the KLE Hospital team for providing free, high-quality healthcare and compassionate treatment to elderly patients. As a gesture of appreciation, Mr. Deepak distributed chocolates to the doctors and nurses who cared for him.
Members of Shantai Vrudhashram also expressed heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and hospital staff for giving Mr. Deepak a new lease on life through their timely medical intervention.
