Belgaum: Sports play a vital role in life and contribute not only to physical fitness but also to mental and social development, said Vijayalakshmi Mannikeri, President of Rotary Club Darpan.
She was speaking as the chief guest at the prize distribution ceremony of the Senior and Junior Girls’ Exhibition Hockey Tournament, jointly organized by Hockey Belgaum, Rotary Club Darpan, and Rotary Club North at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Lele Ground in Belgaum.
In the tournament, the Junior Girls’ team defeated the Senior Girls’ team 1-0 to emerge victorious. The winners and runners-up were presented with trophies by the chief guest.
Earlier, Prakash Kalkundrikar, Vice President of Hockey Belgaum, welcomed the guests and highlighted the activities of the organization. Secretary Sudhakar Chalke informed the gathering about Hockey Belgaum players selected for DYES.
The event was attended by Kaveri Karur, Savita Vesane, Somshekhar Sutar, Uttam Shinde, Raju Deshnur, Prafull Kaloji, Vikas Kalghatgi, Suresh Pote, Dattatraya Jadhav, S.S.
