Former Mayor Vijay More Helps Poor Family Conduct Dignified Last Rites

Belagavi, June 2: A 50-year-old resident of Gajanana Galli in Old Gandhinagar, who had been battling illness, passed away at the Civil Hospital on Monday, leaving his family devastated. The tragedy was compounded by the family’s inability to afford the expenses required for his final rites.

Belonging to an economically weaker background, the family was struggling not only with the grief of losing a loved one but also with arranging the basic necessities for the funeral. As relatives gathered to pay their respects, helplessness overshadowed the mourning as there were no funds available for the last rites.

Upon learning about the family’s condition, former Mayor Vijay More immediately stepped forward to assist. Under his guidance, Gangadhar Patil, Allan Vijay More, and the staff of the Sadashiv Nagar Crematorium coordinated all necessary arrangements and ensured that the funeral was conducted according to Hindu traditions.

Their timely intervention provided much-needed support and comfort to the grieving family during one of the most difficult moments of their lives. Thanks to these efforts, the deceased was given a respectful and dignified farewell.

The last rites were performed in an emotional atmosphere in the presence of Raju Murkute, Uttam Patil, family members, friends, and well-wishers. Many present were deeply moved by both the family’s hardship and the compassionate assistance extended during their time of need.

The incident serves as a powerful reminder that kindness and humanity can make a meaningful difference in the lives of those facing immense loss and hardship.
