Belagavi, May 22: Poor maintenance of drainage lines at the corner of Kacheri Road and Khanjar Galli has led to unhygienic conditions in the area, raising concerns among local residents. Overflowing drains filled with garbage, sludge, and stagnant wastewater have created an unpleasant environment and pose a potential health hazard.
Residents allege that the drains have not been cleaned for several months, resulting in the accumulation of waste and sewage. In some locations, damaged drain slabs have become a safety risk for pedestrians and motorists.
Kacheri Road is one of the city’s key routes, providing access to important government offices, including the Tahsildar Office, Deputy Commissioner’s Office, and Zilla Panchayat. Citizens have expressed disappointment over the poor condition of such a prominent area.
With the monsoon season approaching, residents fear that clogged drains could lead to waterlogging and sewage overflow onto the roads. They have urged the municipal authorities to undertake immediate cleaning of the drains, remove accumulated waste, and repair damaged slabs to prevent further inconvenience and hazards.
