Belgaum Air Quality Improves, AQI Drops to Moderate Category

witnessed a noticeable improvement in air quality on Sunday, with the city recording an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 62 after several days of fluctuating pollution levels.

According to environmental experts, the latest AQI reading places Belgaum in the “moderate” category, indicating comparatively safer air quality than many major cities across Karnataka. Officials said the improvement comes as a relief after the city had recently experienced poorer air conditions.

Health experts, however, advised citizens to continue monitoring daily AQI levels, especially people suffering from asthma, respiratory illnesses, and other lung-related problems. They said moderate pollution levels may still affect sensitive groups during prolonged outdoor exposure.

As per AQI standards, air quality between 50 and 100 is considered moderate, while levels above 100 fall under poor air quality categories. Environmental specialists urged residents to reduce unnecessary pollution and support measures aimed at maintaining cleaner air in the city.
