Support Pours In for Shahapur Youth Shiva Lohar’s Eye Treatment

Mumbai, May 22, 2026: A significant step has been taken to help Shiva Narayan Lohar, a young man from Shahapur who suffered severe eye injuries in a fireworks accident two months ago. A delegation met Mr. Mangesh Chivate, Head of the Deputy Chief Minister’s Medical Cell and Special Officer to Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Eknath Shinde, at Mantralaya in Mumbai to seek assistance for Shiva’s ongoing treatment.

Shiva sustained serious injuries to both eyes in the accident and underwent multiple surgeries at KLE Hospital, Belagavi. Through the efforts of Mr. Anil Ambrole of the Shahapur Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti, the entire treatment cost at KLE Hospital was covered through the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF).

Unfortunately, one of Shiva’s eyes lost complete vision, while the other suffered extensive damage. He was later referred to JJ Hospital, Mumbai, for further evaluation and treatment. During this difficult period, Mr. Ramakant “Dada” Konduskar visited Shiva’s family and assured them of support after learning about their financial hardships. His timely intervention helped facilitate Shiva’s continued treatment in Mumbai.

Following examinations at JJ Hospital, doctors indicated that there is still a possibility of restoring some vision in one eye if advanced treatment is provided without delay. They recommended consultation with renowned ophthalmologist Dr. Sayan Basu at L V Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad.

As obtaining an appointment at the institute is often challenging, the matter was brought to the attention of Mr. Mangesh Chivate. After being briefed on Shiva’s condition, he immediately contacted the hospital authorities and personally followed up on the appointment request. His efforts resulted in an official appointment being confirmed for May 25 at 1:00 PM.

The family and supporters expressed their gratitude to Mr. Chivate for his prompt assistance, highlighting his commitment to the principle of “Service to Patients is Service to God.” He also coordinated with doctors at the Hyderabad hospital and informed them that Principal Anand Aptekar, Medical Coordinator for the Belagavi Border Region, would remain in contact regarding Shiva’s further treatment.

Present during the meeting were Principal Anand Aptekar, Shiva Narayan Lohar, Satyam Koneri, Akash Patil, and Pawan Dhamanekar.

Preparations are currently underway to take Shiva to Hyderabad for further examination and treatment. Friends, well-wishers, and social workers are making every effort to help him regain his eyesight. Members of the public who wish to support Shiva’s treatment can contribute financially.
