Belgaum: Udyambag Police have taken swift action against two youths accused of creating panic and disturbing public peace on roads in the city. The action was initiated after a video of the incident went viral on social media.
According to police, on May 10, 2026, a video was posted on X (formerly Twitter) and tagged to , @COPBELAGAVI, and @DCP_CT_Belagavi, showing youths allegedly stopping vehicles on the road and threatening the public. Taking serious note of the incident, Udyambag Police registered Crime No. 56/2026 under Sections 126(2), 292, 352, 351(2), and 3(5) of BNS 2023.
The accused have been identified as Parashuram Huleppa Karakale (21) and Ramappa Huleppa Karakale (24), both residents of Jain Nagar, Belgaum. Police detained both accused and seized a Hero motorcycle bearing registration number KA22HX4512 worth approximately Rs 35,000 along with a pickaxe allegedly used during the act.
Police have also initiated legal proceedings and obtained a security bond from the accused to prevent further such incidents. Officials warned that strict action would continue against anyone attempting to disturb public peace or create fear among citizens.
